COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Coffee County EMA Director, James Brown, brought sobering health news to the county commission meeting on Monday.
We already know that with only 37% of Alabamians are fully inoculated against COVID-19, with Alabama being ranked 49th out of 50 in states with the lowest percentage.
What’s worse, Coffee County now reports only 20% of its eligible population as being fully vaccinated. As a result, the county is now listed as high risk for the coronavirus.
“Just like the flu shot, some people get the flu even though they got the shot.” said Brown. “It should make your symptoms less even though you don’t have to go to the hospital, people that don’t die. So once again get that vaccine it should protect you against that too.”
Brown says around 95% of new coronavirus cases in Coffee County are people who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
