DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — On Sunday, Landmark Park in Dothan hosted a traditional holiday decorating workshop.
The workshop featured only natural elements that were gathered from around the park multi-acre grounds.
Attendants were able to make wreaths, garlands, and swags that will be on display at the park’s next event.
One of the park’s board members talked about how this traditional style of decorating dates back to the victorian age.
“We’re out here making holiday decorations for the Landmark Park and the historic buildings that we have here that are the time frame is Victorian,” Landmark Park Board Member and master gardener, Barbara Jowers said. “During that time there was not a lot of ribbon that would’ve been a very extravagant thing to put on a wreath. We didn’t have glitter or glue back then, so a lot of these materials are just made from grapevine and natural materials that are gathered around the park
Landmark Park’s next event will be a Victorian Christmas Festival next Sunday, Dec. 12th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
