ALABAMA (WDHN) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has put out an alert advising the public about a scam involving the state’s Sex Offender Registry.
According to ALEA, recently, the department was made aware of a scam where an individual was using ALEA’s Sex Offender Registry to gather names listed on the website to deceive and extort registry members for money by posing as a law enforcement officer over the phone.
