GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — At the Geneva County Commission meeting, Sheriff Tony Helms and County Engineer Justin Barfield said one of their top objectives is to find and retain qualified personnel.
Both men say they’re competing against nearby agencies for the best people to do the job.
In addition to finding those who want to be police.
Sheriff Helms says it’s important to also retain experienced officers and there are a host of reasons why young people are not going into law enforcement, but he says it’s a very rewarding profession and he hopes to recruit more young people to provide law and order in their community.
