LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (WDHN) — Level Plains Mayor Ronnie Thompson and the city council thanked its residents by holding a free pre-Thanksgiving Dinner.

The event drew nearly 120 residents along with many business owners. In addition, retiring Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson along with his successor, Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, and many of their staff enjoyed the turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Meals were also provided to shut-ins, and plates were donated to the Christian Mission Center in Enterprise to help feed lower-income folks in the community.

Mayor Thompson says most of the food was purchased through private donations.

Mayor Thompson says his first community Thanksgiving dinner was such a success, he expects it to become a Level Plains tradition.
