LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (WDHN) — The town of Level Plains has partnered with Fort Rucker to help slow down drivers on the road, using a mobile radar detector gifted to them by Fort Rucker.
It is as if another police officer is on duty, but this one doesn’t have to be paid.
It is a device that uses solar panels to stay lit, requiring little energy.
The chief of Level Plains says this will go a long way to control speeding in the city.
“We are concentrating on smaller neighborhoods,” Level Plains Chief of Police, Johnny Summers, Jr. said. “Whereas the speed limits are slower and the chance of more pedestrians and more kids playing. So more in the smaller areas and places in the city.
As of now, the speeding device will remain in Level Plains indefinitely.
