DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The need for blood donations continues in the Wiregrass.
The supervisor at the LifeSouth Community Blood Center in Dothan said on Monday, that more people have donated since the urgent call went out late last week, but there’s still a serious shortage of donations. The center provides blood for six area hospitals.
The center is in need of all blood types and also needs platelets for all blood types, especially “AB+” and “AB.”
LifeSouth held two blood drives both Saturday and Sunday, and while 35 to 40 donations would be typical during any given drive, this past weekend saw somewhat fewer numbers.
“Monday has been a little bit better,” LifeSouth Center Supervisor, Candice Johnson said. “The weekend here in the center was a little bit slow, but the drives did pretty well.
People are allowed to give blood every eight weeks and platelets every two weeks.
If you’re interested in giving blood you can visit their website, or just walk into the LifeSouth Community Blood Center located on the Ross Clark Circle near Denton Road.
