DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The blood shortage continues in the Wiregrass, however, LifeSouth is beginning to see an increase in donations.

Dothan’s LifeSouth reports 148 donors so far this week, on track to reach the weekly goal of 300 donors.

Tuesday was World Blood Donor Day and LifeSouth Dothan provided every donor a $20 E-gift card.

This promotion is being extended until Friday. To take advantage of it, you must donate at LifeSouth Dothan’s location on Ross Clark Circle, next to the Honda dealership.

Thursday, LifeSouth Dothan will hold an emergency blood drive outside Southeast Health in the parking lot. Those that donate will receive a $10 E-gift card.

People are allowed to give blood every eight weeks and platelets every two weeks.

If you’re interested in giving blood you can visit their website here, or just walk into the LifeSouth Community Blood Center.
