HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Schools in the Wiregrass continue to see rising numbers of children becoming sick and testing positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday, Houston County Schools Superintendent Brandy White and Dothan City Schools Superintendents Dennis Coe plan to address the COVID-19 situation and how the virus is impacting both school districts, just days after the new school year began.

In the joint press conference at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning, White and Coe will provide updated numbers related to COVID-19, how the delta variant is spreading in the community, and possible requirements related to the systems’ mask policy.

The Houston County Schools Board of Education will also hold an emergency meeting Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m.

WDHN News will cover the 9:30 a.m. press conference, and bring you updates on any formal changes for both school districts.
