OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — A Barbour County sheriff’s deputy was traveling west on Highway 131 in southeast Barbour County when all of a sudden he saw a car fly by 20 miles over the speed limit. He also saw the car not dim their lights to oncoming traffic, which caused the deputy to pursue.

The car at large began to speed up once he saw the flashing lights behind him, the chase then began.

The car turned onto Highway 41 in southeast Barbour County and then pulled over to a home, as the sheriff’s deputy continued to follow. The suspect then took off on foot.

Which is when the suspect ran into a dilemma.

“As the deputy was in foot pursuit, McGuire got tangled up in a barbed-wire fence that was not seen and I detained him,” Barbour County Chief Deputy, John Dunn said.

Once the deputy detained the driver of the runaway car, he identified the man as Isaiah McGuire.

McGuire is a suspect in a shooting that occurred on Chauncey Drive in Ozark on December 17, that left one victim in critical condition.

A warrant for McGuire’s arrest was issued on December 20 and he has been on the run from the police ever since.

Now, McGuire is in the Ozark Police Department’s custody.

Police say McGuire has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

McGuire is currently in the Dale County Jail with no bond set.
