UPDATE: Two men arrested, weapons recovered after fight in Eufaula last weekend

EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) – An additional arrest has been made in reference to a fight that occurred Saturday, July 24 that involved gunfire.

One individual was arrested that morning after a brief foot pursuit, and two weapons were recovered.

The second individual, Tony Obryant Green, 36, of Eufaula was arrested on Thursday at the Eufaula Police Department and charged with certain persons forbidden to possess pistol.

This is an ongoing investigation and other charges may be pending.

EUFAULA, Ala. (WDHN) – Eufaula Police took one person into custody after a fight broke out involving gunfire.

Police received calls about an altercation and shots being fired in the area of Rivers Avenue and Wilson Street around 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning. 

Upon arrival, officers witnessed several people with weapons and observed more gunshots. Police said at least two people fled on foot, and a perimeter was set up as officers searched for the armed individuals.

Police took Jimmy Jernigan, 38, of Eufaula into custody. He was charged with a weapons violation and may face additional charges, police said. Two weapons were recovered. Additional arrests may be forthcoming as a person of interest has been identified, as well.

“We as a community should not be willing to tolerate senseless acts of violence,“ Eufaula Police said in a Facebook post Saturday evening.
