DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Several Dothan residents paused to remember those affected by the coronavirus.
Two weeks ago, Mayor Mark Saliba proclaimed March 1st as “COVID-19 Victims and Survivors Memorial Day.”
This morning, the Dothan government held a moment of silence and a prayer for those who lives were taken away and those who fought the virus and survived.
Mayor Saliba said he’s glad to see citizens taking the virus seriously and getting treated to lower case numbers in Houston County.
“The bright light is the fact that we have had the two vaccines,” Saliba said. “We been administering when the state got ’em down to our county and the fact that the Johnson and Johnson, the third vaccine has been approved by the FDA.”
Mayor Saliba says the city might recognize this day for at least two more years.
