OPP, Ala (WDHN)—This week, employees of MFG corporation’s two Opp plants got pink slips.

MFG stands for Molded Fiberglass Company, and the company primarily operates the molding primary plastics business. Its two plants are located off the Opp bypass And employ around 100 workers from several wiregrass counties who customize plastic and fiberglass products.

Opp Mayor Becky Bracke has been told the Ohio-based company recently lost a few large
Customers, and now is forced to close its two plants in the city.

The company is a big supplier of turbines nationwide used in windmills to generate wind energy.

Mayor Bracke is told the company will cease all operations in Opp in march., but MFG will still operate a half-dozen other plants across the country.

Mayor Bracke says anytime you lose jobs in a small community is tough, but she hopes the state-of-the-art facility will attract another manufacturer to take over
