DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Mother’s day is a time to respect, honor and show love towards your mom for everything she has done!
It is approaching fast this weekend and you might be running out of time to get that last gift.
But what about those families where the mother might not be around?
That’s what Alyson Brown hopes to bring attention to this weekend by hosting “Mother Wounds and Mock Mimosas.”
“It is a brunch and ahealing workshop that will help us gain tools to heal and overcome our mother wounds and jumpstart our healing journey’s,” Event Coordinator, Alyson Brown said.
But, what is a mother wound?
“An emotional injury caused by a deficit in the mother-child relationship that forms co-dependent, self critical and controlling behaviors,” Brown said.
This event is a place to come and share those experiences with people of the same background as you.
Brown knows how hard of a journey it can be, and wants you to know that you are not alone.
“I was so afraid to share about my journey. I was terrified,” said Brown. “To share my journey, but when I finally shared it I realized there were so many women in my same shoes having the same experience.”
If you expect to heal, you don’t need to run from the issue, but rather, embrace it, and learn from it.
“Be honest about what those are, be honest about those journey’s,” Brown said. “Take full accountability of those journey’s and take ownership of that process. Move forward in that knowing we have full permission to heal no matter how uncomfortable it is.”
