DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Hundreds of race fans gathered at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds for the 70th Annual CubMobile Derby.

Fisher Hicks, who drove the green flame car, won the derby. Addisyn Carder, who drove an Alabama football-themed car placed second, and Landon Hiers, who drove a purple car, finished third.

This year’s race was the biggest in its history with 92 racers taking to the track. On Saturday, a total of 200 races were run in a double-elimination format, where the top three earned cash prizes and now their cars will get to be shown off during the National Peanut Festival Parade and during the National Peanut Festival.

  • Best Theme – Coleman Fletcher (Peanut Car)
  • Most Original – Carson Braswell

The National Peanut Festival kicks off on November 3 and will wrap up on November 12.
