DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — According to the National Peanut Festival staff, the official numbers are not in but they are expecting a huge increase over last year.
So far, they have estimated around 40,000 people have entered the gates over the past three days, especially with the great weather in the forecast.
They say so far the festival has been smooth sailing — there have been no issues with carnival rides and the most important thing people have been on their best behavior and have been taking care of themselves.
“No issues at all, the patrons over the past few days have been great the weather was hot and people stayed hydrated but no major instances whatsoever,” Phillip Tidwell said.
Tidwell said he hopes people come out and join them at least once the rest of the week as they hope to have a record-breaking year.
