COFFEE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — The Governor has officially chosen the new District Attorney for Coffee and Pike County.

Governor Kay Ivey appointed Attorney James Tarbox as the new Coffee-Pike County District Attorney on Friday, January 20.

Tarbox says he is honored and humbled to be given the opportunity and he is ready to get to work for the people.

In the appointment letter, Governor Ivey expresses the importance of Tarbox’s new position and advises the new D.A. to use his office wisely.

The responsibility that comes with this appointment is not to be taken lightly. I trust that you will rise to the occaision and set a standard for others to follow.

Governor’s Appointment Letter

Tarbox will serve as the D.A. for the 12th Judicial Circuit for the remainder of former D.A. Tom Anderson’s term.

Anderson stepped down earlier this month and was appointed to a Supernumerary D.A. status by Ivey. In addition to Anderson’s new appointment, he will be a practicing attorney at the Dothan law firm Cherry and Irwin.

Anderson’s new term was to start on Thursday, January 17.
