ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — On Tuesday in Enterprise, a one-and-a-half million-gallon water tank was hoisted atop a 44-foot pedestal.
This is the latest step in the replacement of the 54-year-old, half-million-gallon tower on the Boll Weevil Circle, next to the Dauphin Plaza.
Once in place and sealed at the top and bottom, the tank will be filled with one-and-a-half million gallons of water by late June or early July.
City Water Superintendent, Alan Mahan, says the new system will allow for even greater residential and business growth on the city’s highly developed Northside.
Shortly after the new tank goes into operation, the existing tank built-in 1961 will be torn down.
