DOTHAN. Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan City Commission agreed with the Alabama Department of Transportation to install lighting on Highway 84 West.

Right now, construction work is taking place in front of Flowers Hospital — as ALDOT is creating an additional westbound lane and a number of intersection improvements to help traffic congestion and cut down on accidents.

City manager Kevin Cowper said better lighting is the most important source of public safety.

“Hopefully, people have seen some of the new street lights that have been installed with the current project that is a trend that we want to continue as we do new projects,” Cowper said.

Cowper said you can expect a brighter ride in that area by late this fall.
