DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The city commission approved rules regulating locations for short-term rental housing units (STRs) and established support services to help enforce the ordinance.
On October 4, 2022, the city approved the regulation of STRs locations that also require a business license and remit lodging taxes. All STRs must get a business license by Saturday, March 4 or will be subject to penalties and interest.
STRs that are located in a residential zoning district, will require special zoning approval before a license may be acquired.
The city entered into an agreement with a third party to provide administrative support services to enforce the ordinance. As part of the application process, a tip line as well as an online tip form have been established and are available.
The 24/7 Toll-Free Nuisance Hotline is 855-238-3288. The online tip form may be
