HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Drivers who use Columbia Highway will soon have another traffic stop to add to their route.

As part of the city of Dothan’s agreement with FedEx for its new distribution center in Houston County, the city will be adding a traffic signal on Sam Houston Boulevard and Highway 52 (Columbia Highway).

Dothan’s City Manager, Kevin Cowper, tells WDHN, with the expected increase in traffic is due to employees and large shipping FedEx trucks that will be coming and going from the center. The city is making improvements to that intersection and one other.

“The other traffic signal is Columbia Highway and Ross Clark Circle and we’ll just be doing some modifications to that traffic signal to facilitate the new traffic patterns,” Cowper said.

Cowper said drivers can expect these improvements to be made on the intersection by the end of this year.
