ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The newly appointed Director of the Wiregrass Economic Development Group addressed the Coffee County Commission on Monday.

Mississippi native, Jesse W. Quillen, was named the new director. He has an extensive background in recruiting business and industry to several cities in Northern Alabama, North Central, Florida and his home state of Mississippi.

He talked about how he will work to recruit business and industry to Coffee and Geneva Counties, as well as to the City of Daleville.

“I visited briefly all of those communities,” Quillen said. “I see ample opportunity for all of those communities. Although, a little different opportunity and it’s exciting to know that those resources and assets are out there and obviously helps these areas with recruiting.”

For those in the economic development game bringing in new industry and business, is like a domino effect. Once a large industry moves in, you can be assured that others will start moving in as well, according to Quillen.

Quillen says the once heavy agricultural and textile economy has diversified into the more high-tech industry in the Wiregrass. He’ll be responsible for facilitating new and existing companies to Southeast, Alabama.
