UPDATE: Enterprise police say Thursday night shooting was possible murder-suicide

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) – On Thursday, Enterprise police responded to what was initially dispatched as a shooting at a residence, after further investigation detectives indicated it was a result of a domestic violence dispute, police said.

At 7:50 p.m. on Thursday evening, responding officers arrived at the Enterprise residence and discovered a deceased male as well as a female victim with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a press release.

The deceased has been identified as Jessie Peters Jr, 51, of Enterprise.

The investigation led by EPD Detectives indicated the shooting was a result of a domestic violence dispute. During the dispute, the male subject shot the surviving spouse in the chest and then took his own life. No further information will be released.

The shooting happened at a home in the 500 block of County Road 539 in Enterprise shortly before 8:00 p.m. 

A man was found shot to death. A woman had also received a gunshot wound to the chest.  She was taken to a local hospital, according to police.

No arrests have been made as Enterprise Police continue investigating.
