Ozark man indicted, $1M bond for deadly hit-and-run that killed toddler

OZARK, Ala. (WDHN) — Dale County Grand Jury indicted an Ozark man on a charge that occurred during a fatal hit-and-run accident in July earlier this year.

The accident claimed the life of a toddler and severely injured the mother of the child, whom was driving near the intersection of Mixon School Road and Saxon Lane in Ozark.

Alexander Mcleod, 38, was booked in to the Dale County Jail on Sunday, Oct. 24 at approximately 6:40 p.m. from a grand jury indictment that occurred on September 23 on the charge of murder-reckless.

Mcleod also has pending charges that will be presented to a grand jury on February 2, 2022. The previous charges pending are, assault in the first degree and leaving the scene of an accident.

Mcleod is currently in the Dale County Jail on a $1 million dollar bond.
