OPP, Ala. (WDHN) — Opp police are investigating the deaths of three men who are said to be from the same family.

The department received a call of a natural death in a house at the intersection of Hardin Street and Washington Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Officers found Keith Hines, 48, dead inside a bedroom.

Shortly after, an officer found a second body behind the home in the tree line. That person has been identified as 34-year-old Marquez Henderson.

Both men are reportedly related. Police said there was no physical signs of any violence:

“Right now, we just don’t know which direction this investigation will head in, but we are prepared to go down whatever avenue to get down to the bottom of this,” assistant police chief David Harrell said.

The men’s relatives said they are shocked over what was found.

“(Keith) was sweet, very kind to everyone,” said Gloria Musgrove, Hine’s cousin. And he was an amazing father. He was.”

“He was a good person,” said Lisa lane, another cousin. “He was friends with everybody around here. He was known by everybody. Marquez was a sweet person, too.”

The bodies of both men have been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy. It’s hoped that will lead to answers as far as determining if they have a double homicide on their hands.

Earlier this week, a third member of the family, Bernard Hines, was taken to a local hospital and died.

Police are trying to figure out whether that death is connected to the other two.
