HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — On Sunday night, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Southeast Health that a victim at the hospital had been shot.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office isn’t sure if the shooting happened in Houston or Henry County.

“Information has been developed throughout the night that, has to lead us to up in Henry County where a suspect in a vehicle was spotted, the vehicle fled,” Houston County Sheriff’s Office Major Bill Rafferty.

A pursuit ensued that lead Houston County deputies to Abbeville, that’s when Henry County deputies became involved. The search started near the intersection of County Road 45 and 32. That’s where the driver bailed out of the vehicle and fled.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as Johnny Wilson, 30, of Abbeville.

“He could be considered armed and dangerous. It’s in the north of Newville, south of Abbeville, that area around 45 and 32. We’re actively looking for him with Henry County Sherriff’s Office. I believe troopers are up there as well as canines from the prison system,” Maj. Rafferty.
