DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Family and friends packed the North Highland Missionary Baptist Church to say their final goodbyes to Andrew “Andy” Jones.

Andy Jones was shot and killed just two steps away from his home. Mr. Jones’ sister, Donna Jones, invited WDHN News to the funeral in hopes of bringing awareness to gun violence in the Wiregrass.

Family and friends described Andy as a lovable person who adored his family, including his new grandson Aiden.

“He was just a great guy,” Paul Russaw said. “He was a good man. He didn’t bother nobody. He was a guy you can learn a lot of things about if you paid attention.”

Although authorities don’t have a suspect yet, they are still investigating. Donna Jones said she hopes

the person who did this will come forward.

“I tell you what if the police don’t get y’all, may God have mercy on y’all souls because you took away a loving person that everyone loved,” Jones said.
