SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN) — The Samson City Council has unanimously approved the sale of draft beer within city limits.

The ordinance will allow businesses with a license to sell draft beer on their premise only, and beer can be sold six days of the week excluding Sunday.

Previously restaurants could only sell beer in bottles or cans.

Meanwhile, the council has decided to do more research before voting on raising local water rates.

The city is looking to upgrade the sewage lagoon and expand on the water services.

ADEM has awarded Samson a $5 million dollar grant to help with the project, but the city may have to pay a local match.

The city will mull over that decision as the 2024 fiscal year starts in October.
