SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN) — In a 3-2 decision, the Samson City Council rejected police chief Jimmy Hill’s letter of resignation, according to City Attorney Jeff Hatcher.
Despite that, the council sent Hill a termination letter in August of this year.
Hill’s wife, Pam, a former city clerical employee, was also sent a termination letter; however, the council unanimously approved her resignation Tuesday night.
In July, Jimmy and Pam were placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation by the council unanimously, but the reason was never made public.
According to Mayor Clay King, after the investigation, the couple received letters detailing what officials found.
At this time, Lt. Chris Miranda will serve as acting chief. There is no word on the plans for the position.
