SAMSON, Ala. (WDHN) — A small town in western Geneva County traditionally celebrates the incoming year in a big way.

Beginning 7 p.m. Friday, American Legion Post 78 in Samson opens its doors to a “family fun” New Year’s Eve party.

There will be a band along with finger foods and soft drinks. Alcohol and tobacco are prohibited inside
the building.

Despite high COVID-19 positivity rates statewide, organizers anticipate a crowd of more than 100 party goers. There will be hand sanitizer, and social distancing is encouraged.

“50-50 drawings, cake drawings, several different things to get people to come out with us,” American Legion Post 78 member, Gary Ward said.

Samson’s New Year’s Eve Party will end around 12:30 a.m. New Year’s Day. Entry is $10 for adults, and children five years old and under are free to attend.
