ELBA, Ala. (WDHN)—A “historic” moment took place at the end of the Alabama 2022 legislative session
last month.

After serving in the Alabama House and “later” senate for more than 40 years,
Jimmy Holley of Elba did “not” seek re-election to senate seat 31 which covers
all of Coffee, Covington, and a portion of Dale County.

State Representative Rhett Marques of Enterprise says, Holley
was a tremendous asset for getting legislation approved for the wiregrass.

Marques says three qualified Republican candidates are “vying” for Senator Holley’s
Seat, but Holley’s experience and knowledge of the legislative process will be
“greatly missed”.

Senator Holley will officially end with his current term in January, 2023.
