WIREGRASS, Ala. (WDHN) — Coffee County EMA officials feel the possibility of severe weather is higher from Interstate 10 into the Florida Panhandle.
But here in the Wiregrass, heavy rainfall is expected over coming days.
One estimate has as much as six inches of precipitation.
That amount over a short period of time could create flash flooding on both paved and dirt roads across Southeast Alabama.
“There’s a possibility of some strong storms and severe weather as well,” Coffee County EMA Deputy Director, Grant Lyons said. “However, we will be watching the rain. Over the next few days we’re looking at 3 to 4 inches of rain through Saturday, but locally higher amounts.”
Lyons says the threat of severe weather decreases as we get into Saturday afternoon.
