DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — As the season of giving quickly approaches, one mom and pop shop in the Circle City wants to invite you to shop and support local businesses.

As part of the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, the ‘Shop Local It Makes Cents‘ holiday campaign kick-off where community members were encouraged to start shopping local at the city’s many locally-owned businesses during the Christmas season.

According to Stacy Fountain, the owner, and operator of ‘Downtown Books,’ a new book store in downtown Dothan, a strong local economy can help navigate the ups, downs, and uncertainty of the global economy.

“Even though things might be crazy in other places if we keep our dollars at home and we support our local businesses. Then that keeps our local economy strong,” Fountain said.

Organizers want to remind the community when they are out shopping to keep in mind, to shop local because those dollars will end up staying within the community to better serve the community.
