Southeast Health reaches out to get vaccines to rural areas

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Southeast Health reached out to the more rural areas of Houston County Thursday to help get more Wiregrass citizens signed up to get their COVID-19 vaccines.

The medical center has been traveling to different areas of Houston County to help people register that may not have access to their online registration or just need help through the steps.

“We did this last week in Dothan and had (a) great response so usually people come in, they either ask questions or tell you about their experience receiving the vaccination,” said Wyndi Thompson, doctorate of nurse practice at Southeast Health. “And then there are those that we’re finding who haven’t had it yet or just procrastinated, and while we’re there to answer the questions, then they’re able to sign up so we’ve had a lot of positive response.”

Thompson said they have more community outreach days planned and to follow Southeast Health’s Facebook page to find out where they will be next.
