DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – Dothan’s Southeast Health has made adjustments with more people requesting appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine as the delta variant spreads.
Beginning Monday, the hospital’s vaccine clinic will move back to the second floor of the Southeast Health Doctors Building. Those with a vaccine appointment should use Entrance 1 on the upper parking deck. Walk-in vaccines are available Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and Noon.
Southeast Health saw a slight decrease in the number of hospitalized patients suffering from COVID-19-related issues Saturday.
Mark Stewart, Director of Public Relations, said the number of hospitalizations went from 67 Friday to 63 Saturday. He said unvaccinated individuals account for 90% of COVID-19 cases at Southeast Health.
According to Stewart, COVID-19 is not causing an increase in the amount of time a person will wait inside the hospital’s ER department. The hospital saw a normal flow of patients coming in and out of the ER Saturday.
Southeast Health encourages people to get vaccinated. According to the latest numbers from the Alabama Department of Public Health, southeast Alabama had one of the highest community transmission levels in the state over the past seven days.
