GENEVA CO., Ala. (WDHN) — In education news, the Geneva County School District was the recipient of the generosity of a local, elected official.

Geneva County District One Commissioner, Weston Spivey, presented the School Superintendent Becky Birdsong with a $3,100 check.

When first elected several years ago, Spivey says he “promised” to give a portion of his commission salary to “worthy” causes.

In this case, Spivey says the money is “earmarked” for school safety and security for school campuses in Geneva County.

Out of his four years in office, Spivey estimates he has donated approximately one year’s salary to Geneva County schools and other “worthy” groups and organizations.
