ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — A third Republican candidate has joined the primary race for Alabama Senate District 31.

District 31 encompasses all of Covington, Coffee, and Pike counties. it also includes the northern half of Dale County.

“Stormin” Norman Horton says Washington D.C and Montgomery continue to overreach in taking
individual liberties.

Horton has been a small businessman, and he emphasizes that he’s not a career politician.

He’s looking to fill the rather large shoes of long-time incumbent Senator Jimmy Holley of Elba, who was first elected in the mid-1970s.

In addition to Horton, State Representative Mike Jones of Andalusia and Coffee County Commissioner
Josh Carnley is also running in the Republican primary.

The Republican primary is on May 24.
