DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The city of Dothan has renewed its agreement with former NFL player, Izell Reese on the lease of the old Grandview Elementary School.

The city owns the property and has been leasing the former elementary school to Reese. During a Dothan City Commission Meeting, officials agreed to continue that leasing agreement for another 5 years.

Dothan started leasing the space to Reese with plans to use it as a community center. Now, a new $1.7 million,120-yard turf field, the first NFL turf field in the state and the first to be built in a state where an NFL team isn’t based, is planned for the five acres behind the school.

Officials are discussing the possibility of a YMCA being built inside the former school. At this time, they need your help with a survey, that survey will allow officials to see what resources the YMCA could provide to the community.

The link for the survey is below.
