DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — On Monday, commissioners approved the city of Dothan’s purchase of the Houston County Farm Center.

This sale comes after months of talks with potential buyers, including Florida-based company Brightwork Real Estate.

After negations and an adjustment in price after a land survey, the city of Dothan purchased the farm center for $2.2 million.

As of now, Dothan doesn’t have any firm plans on what the farm center could be in the future, however, Dothan’s city manager said there could be potential for commercial use and whatever might come to the property will be redeveloped for the good of the whole community.

Dothan will likely close on the farm center before the end of the year, however, the final closing date for the sale is January 9, 2023.
