DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan’s Wallace Community College has an award winner in their midst.

Barbara Steger was awarded the Champion Award by the Alabama Adult Education Director’s Association for speaking on behalf of adult education. She was selected by her peers in the association.

Wallace-Dothan provides opportunities for adults who are interested in GED® preparation classes, English as second language courses, college and career preparation, academic support, and basic literacy instruction for adults learning to read.

Steger says the adult courses are fundamental to helping Wiregrass citizens grow in the educational journey.

“It has the propensity to change lives,” Wallace Community College Director of Adult Education Barbara Steger said. “To build upon their knowledge base so that they’re now able to read a book or read to their child or count money so that’s important. So we change lives.”
