DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — As part of Dothan’s new vision for downtown, the city will have to move its administrative offices to make way for a new Wiregrass Arts and Innovation Center.

At this time, city officials are looking at a variety of options to relocate the 145 city employees and the half-dozen city departments currently located in its civic center.

Dothan’s City Manager, Kevin Cowper, tells WDHN that the city is looking for a new downtown location for a city hall-type building.

“It could be a new building or it can be a renovation of an existing building,” Cowper said. “Too early to say. I can tell you that we are looking at a lot of different options.”

The city hopes these visions for redevelopments in the area will spur additional interest in people wanting to be a part of the change.
