DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — One Wiregrass elementary school is preparing students for the future.

Morris Slingluff Elementary School held a STEAM competition for their students to learn, have fun and compete.

Students have been working on environmental, anatomy, and plant-related projects for the past five weeks.

Darius McKay, the principal at the elementary tells WDHN that students have been working extremely hard and will have the opportunity to win a prize.

“We want to certainly give them the skills and tools to be successful later,” McKay said. “Whatever we can expose them to in the areas of STEAM or STEEM, we want to try to do it.”

McKay said the future is going to be all STEAM-related, so the earlier they can introduce students to the program, the better.
