COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Two Wiregrass fire departments have teamed up on the Pea River to test out their water skills.
Elba Fire and Kinston Volunteer Fire Department met on Monday at the Williams Boat Landing near Kinston to train with water rescue equipment.
During training, both departments were able to utilize the airboat and rescue boat from the Elba Fire Department to get more familiar with search and rescue tactics.
With volunteer departments struggling with specific resources, this joint exercise was hosted by Elba Fire, which allowed Kinston Fire to use their equipment.
Both departments used this time to clear debris at the boat ramp for better access down the ramp.
Currently, the Elba Fire Department’s quickest access to the Pea River is at Williams Boat Landing.
