DOHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity is taking applications for its yearly weatherization and critical build program.
This is for low-income homeowners in Dothan that are in need of help with housing infrastructure.
They can help with air conditioner, roof, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
Grants go up to $5,000 each but are not paid to the individual. Instead, they’re paid to the vendor.
“We go out and we look at it,” said Donna Clemmons, executive director of Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity. “We send a vendor, — we use local vendors — out to the home to see how much it’s going to cost. They send us a quote back, and then we set it up. We have the people go out, and we fix the home for them, and then we pay the vendor themselves.”
To get started with that process, contact Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity at 334-792-8453 for an application.
