DOTHAN, ALA. (WDHN) — The Wiregrass United Way supports six counties in Southeast Alabama community and they are asking for your help in their latest fundraiser.

According to Walter Hill, the CEO for the Wiregrass United Way held a book signing at M.Y. Cakes and Pastries in the Circle City. Hill told WDHN he has sold over 1,600 copies so far and these cookbooks have reached 46 of the 50 states.

Hill said they have raised $25,000 dollars so far and 100% of the proceeds have gone to benefit the United Way’s mission.

“The recipes are a lot of traditional southern-type recipes,” Hill said. “I grew up on the coast of Mississippi, there are some cajun influences as well with some gumbo and shrimp creole and things like that. To be able to represent Dothan, the Wiregrass, and Southeast Alabama is really great.”

Hill said if you weren’t able to make Friday’s book signing, not to worry, he said people can purchase his cookbook at Shoupe Pecan Company, Miles of Flowers, and also at the Wiregrass United Way in Dothan.
