DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — $13,000 in grants were given to the Wiregrass Museum of Art on Friday. The money is intended to help bring in more than 400 students from Wiregrass schools.
The grants were given to the museum by the Wiregrass Foundation and the Southeast Alabama Community Foundation.
The summer camps will be held throughout the summer and the museum has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club, Hawk-Houston Youth Enrichment Center, and the Time Youth Impact Center to help give students this opportunity.
The museum staff believes that art can be transformative for children of all ages.
“For these two programs, it means that students without summer-bridged learning opportunities can come and have an art camp experience,” Wiregrass Museum of Art, Director of Advancement, Melissa Rea said.
