Local News

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The Houston County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found dead around 10:24 p.m. Friday off Coskrey Road, according to a new press release.

The victim is Danny Gordon Tye, 60, of Headland. The sheriff’s office decided to investigate Tye’s death as a homicide after finding his body in the grassy area next to the road.

Houston County investigators found Tye’s vehicle in Jackson County, Florida, the following day at around 2:50 p.m. With the help of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the HCSO was able to take Shannon Lechelle Savannah Hartsfield, 29, into custody.

Hartsfield is facing a first-degree robbery charge without a bond while being held in Jackson County.

According to the release, Hartsfield is expected to go before a judge Monday where she will have the chance to sign a waiver of extradition, which means she will be sent back to the Houston County Jail for the robbery charge. If she does not sign, a governor’s warrant will be obtained for her instead.

Other charges are pending the results of the autopsy and further investigation into how Tye died.
