DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) —In a time of social distancing and isolation, the Dothan House of Ruth is seeing domestic violence cases increase.
The House of Ruth is a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
They provide in and out of shelter services for many different cases of violence, and as the Executive Director, Angela Underwood says the isolation caused by COVID-19 has made case numbers rise.
“I think being together day after day after day, that control aspect of it all plays into this is being there together, and the numbers are up because of that very reason,” Underwood said.
Underwood says if anyone needs help from the House of Ruth they can call their crisis hotline at 334-793-2232.
