ASHFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — In Ashford, the Ambulance and Rescue squad got a generous surprise recently from a local trucking company.

Summerford Trucking Line provided the department with a check for $1,000.

The trucking company wanted to do something special for the rescue department in appreciation of its hard work in responding to numerous calls in nearby towns.

The chief of operations expressed his gratitude for the donation on behalf of the department which is a non-profit organization.

“Every donation we get goes back into our people whether its training or payroll or it goes into equipment because you need those two things to serve the community, so we are very blessed here,” Jarrod Whitten said.

Whitten wants to thank Summerford trucking company as well as others who previously donated. To name a few, the town of Cowarts, the Lions Club of Ashford, the DDRA of Ashford, and honorary members Walter and Joyce Baxley.

If you would like to donate to the rescue squad, you can stop by the station across from the train depot.
