Man arrested for theft at Elba fire station while crews battled house fire

ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) – A man faces charges that he stole the fire department’s ATV/UTV apparatus and then took law enforcement on a chase Saturday night.

According to the Elba Fire Department, the theft took place at the fire department while fire personnel were working a house fire. Elba Police responded to a complaint about the stolen ATV. An officer tried making a traffic stop, but the man refused to stop the vehicle and a chase began.

“The subject led Elba Police, Coffee County Deputies, and New Brockton Police on a pursuit that lasted approximately 10 minutes before he crashed into a utility pole, potentially totaling our piece of life saving equipment,” a Facebook post from the Elba Fire Department said.

The fire apparatus sustained heavy damage.

Jakori Warren, 25, of Elba was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail on charges of 2nd degree burglary, theft of property, attempting to elude, and resisting arrest.
